Happy Birthday, Margarita!

Hello God!

Thank You for my daughter. Today she is 5 y.o.!

Daughter

You are beautiful,
my tiny child,
wrapped tightly in my arms,
close to my heart.
I listen to you breathing.
I count your fingers
and your toes.
Helpless,
you cried out to me
and I love you
with every ounce of my soul.

Margarita

I remember the day
You took your first step.
There was no stopping you.
Your feet gave you freedom
to explore the world
like never before
but danger lurked.

I opened those doors anyway,
cautiously,
and introduced
you to the world.

MargaritaWorld

Thank you, Margarita, for You!

You have transformed my life into a fairytale,

My world has changed, and will never be the same.
Because my child, you are an angel from heaven to me,
You, my darling, are my most unforgettable dream.
Happy Birthday, Dear Daughter!

Thank you for this possibility to share with you my happiness and love.

Angel Samantha

Hello God!

Thank You for today. I am happy to share with you a story about my first American friend. Remembering my Soviet school years is impossible about this story.

As you know my school years (1981 – 1991) were the years of the Cold war between USA and USSR.

If we wish to create a lasting peace, if we want to fight a war against war, we must begin with the children. Mahatma Gandhi’s words mirrors the ambivalent situation Soviet children were in. From the one side we knew about USA as the worst enemy, from the other side we all had had an American friend we adored by whole heart. We loved Samantha Smith.

Time

When Yuri Andropov succeeded Leonid Brezhnev as leader of the Soviet Union in November 1982, the mainstream Western newspapers and magazines ran numerous front-page photographs and negative articles about him. When Samantha Smith viewed the edition of Time magazine, she asked her mother, “If people are so afraid of him, why doesn’t someone write a letter asking whether he wants to have a war or not?”. Her mother replied, “Why don’t you?”

Dear Mr. Andropov,
My name is Samantha Smith. I am ten years old. Congratulations on your new job. I have been worrying about Russia and the United States getting into a nuclear war. Are you going to vote to have a war or not? If you aren’t please tell me how you are going to help to not have a war. This question you do not have to answer, but I would like to know why you want to conquer the world or at least our country. God made the world for us to live together in peace and not to fight.
Sincerely,
Samantha Smith

mynameis

On July 7, 1983, she flew to Moscow with her parents, and spent two weeks as Andropov’s guest. From today’s my point of view I think her visit were unimaginably influential for every Soviet child because she was from a different planet. You see on the cartoon that it seems the Soviet Union was even from different biological spice.

Samantha Smith Arrives In Russia

She is Angel. She had changed our Destiny forever. Because of her the doubts were born. “Why are USA our worst enemy? Samantha in from USA and she is a friend” we were thinking learning English intensively. “Why intensively?” you can ask. The Soviet Ministry of Education created a special linguistic school where foreign language was compulsory from the first grade (6-7 y.o.) after Samantha’s visit.

We were grateful for her gift to open our eyes. America was not our enemy.

USSRstampS.Smith

She died on August 25, 1985. Could you imagine the mourning day devoted to Samantha at the 1st September, 1985, in every Soviet school, in the official Knowledge Day?! We were crying and writing a letter of condolence to Samantha’s mother by whole class. I remember that moment, even now I am writing with tears in my eyes.

In 1985 the Soviet Post  issued a commemorative stamp with her likeness. In 1986, when Soviet astronomer Lyudmila Chernykh discovered asteroid 3147, she named it 3147 Samantha. It was the precedent.

The wind of Her angel’s wings has begun creating a new melody of our ways… We all are connected, the butterfly effect works.

Thank you for your being in my life. We are influencing on each other and from this very point we are going to be happier and kinder than we were a moment ago. I am grateful for you change my Way.

Daughter Grows

Hello God!

Thank You for this possibility to breath and enjoy Sunday. Today is a rainy day and I have a happy time to write these words. My daughter is sitting on my knees playing in a fashion game with iPad now. She asks my advices what dress to wear and I feel her trust. I enjoy and love our understanding.

I am meditating about our future now. Will we still be a good friends when my daughter is a teenager? I have found a wonderful story I am happy to share with you. Sure you recognize today’s personages on the photos.

Madonna

In the second grade,

My mom made me wear dresses everyday.
My mom would part my hair down the middle and make two long braids with colorful hair ties.
I would go to school and the boys would make fun of my dresses.
The boy that sat behind me would pull my braids anytime I said something smart.

Lourdes2Lourdes

In the fourth grade,

I told my mom I could dress myself, but she still had to approve of every outfit.
I told my mom I was old enough to style my own hair.
I would go to school and the boys would make fun of my weight instead of my clothes.
The boy that sat behind me would sit next to me and call me names for being the stupid one in smart classes.

Lourdes5

In the seventh grade,

I told my mom that I didn’t care what she thought.
I cut my long hair shoulder length.
I started wearing dark makeup.
The boys didn’t make fun of my weight but they would ask me out as a joke.
The boy that sat behind me and then next to me, liked me and texted me every night saying how pretty I was.

Lourdest

In the ninth grade,

My mom wasn’t awake to see what I wore to school.
I regretted the very day I decided to cut my hair.
The boys that called me fat; left me alone because they found someone bigger to pick on.
The boy that sat behind me asked me for a naked picture and I said no.
He called me a fat, ugly, prude and never talked to me again.

Lourdes

In the tenth grade,

My mom borrowed my clothes and I borrowed hers.
My hair fell out but I wanted it to grow.
Boys no longer call me fat because they never saw me eat.
And the boy that sat behind me wanted me back.
I cried myself to sleep and hid my wrists in my sleeve.

It’s funny how many things changed since the second grade…

Thank you for sharing this moment together.

Have a happy understanding supporting friendship with your children today and always!

My Dolls

Hello God!

Thank You for a friendship we are inspired by. My today’s post was born because of my new friend Sindy. Her blog is fascinating. She asked me whether my Soviet childhood was different from her American one. My childhood was sweet, I even create a poem inspiring by my happy memories. To feel the differences it will be nice to hear your opinion.

I suppose all children with loving father and mother are happy on the both side of our planet. Childhood is the pink period when American democracy or Soviet totalitarianism mean nothing. My Soviet childhood is from 80s. The Soviet Union was blooming in building Communism and my parents were a happy helpers working at the factory. My education was partly a responsibility of the Soviet Union. Kindergarden was for children from 1 y.o. Mother should go to work. All Soviet people should work, as you know, unemployment was solved by the law of Communist Party.

The future builders of Communism should be a harmoniously developed person. By the way I like this idea. Every child studied and learned to play a musical instruments and sports for free. Every child knew the ballet “Swan Lake” by Peter Tchaikovsky and the 2nd Concerto for the piano with orchestra by Sergey Rachmaninov. This classic pieces were main in the TV program when funeral of General Secretary of the Communist Party was in the day. I remember the funerals of Leonid Brezhnev, Yuri Andropov and Konstantin Chernenko. It was funny but child’s playing with a toys with a sounds of a classical masterpiece solved important educational task how to teach to love classical music.

You see a photos of a dolls from USSR soviet children played with. We did not know who Barbie was at all.

We were happy because we knew nothing about Afghanistan, the Cold War, Berlin Wall. We will know the sad truth later…

Since Yesterday the Foundation Pierre  Bergé – Yves Saint Laurent opened the French designer’s archives to the public online.

The Fondation Pierre Bergé– Yves Saint Laurent was created in 2002 and have his headquarters at 5, avenue Marceau in Paris. This is also the place where the duo started their couture house in 1974. This foundation has 5000 garment, 15000 accessories and tens of thousands other designs that they have carefully conserved. But because a lot of these pieces are so fragile they can’t put permanently on display.  And now thanks to a digital initiative from the French Ministère de la Culture et de la Communication, people all over the world will have access to fashion history.

The first online exposition is about paper dolls. At the age of 16 Yves Saint Laurent created an amazing collection of paper dolls. He used pictures from models and combined them with his sketches.

In conclusion of the lesson the advice from Thomas Hillgrove is relevant: “Ladies should also remember that gentlemen look more to the effect of a dress in setting off the figure and countenance of a lady than to its cost. Very few gentlemen have any idea the value of ladies’ dresses. This is a subject for female criticism. Beauty of person and elegance of manners in women will always command more admiration from the opposite sex than beauty, elegance or costliness of clothing.”  The Scholars’ Companion and Ball Room Vade Mecum,

Thank you for your attention. I am happy to see you elegant and charming!

Raspberry Tale

Hello God!

Thank You for raspberries we enjoy in July. Raspberries remind me a wonderful and sweet taste from my childhood. I remember a big bushes of raspberry I was playing with my little sister in. I was a bear and she was a hare. Our story was about a lost little hare and a bear who was asked by mother of a little hare to find her daughter. When a bear had found a bushes of raspberries bear forgot about asking to find a little hare. So bear, me, ate a raspberries when little hare, my sister, sat in the bushes. My mother was waiting for us with a little cup of raspberries her children had gathered…

A magic smell and taste of raspberries and homemade waffles keep my happy memory about childhood.

Every family had an electrical waffle maker you see below. I am lucky because my mother-in-law has the waffle maker which is rare vintage thing from USSR now.

WafelMaker1WafelMaker

The first picture is actual photo of my mother-in-law’s equipment. The waffle maker is baking very well.

photo-23

The recipe of waffles is simple:

200 gr. butter or margarine
1 cup of sugar
5 eggs
1.5 cup of flour

photo-21

Hand made cottage cheese is delicious. I add a half cup of sugar and steer it to cream mass.

photo-20

Rasberries are just from the garden. What’s a beautiful and delicious union!

photo-18

My ruby red mouth

Will be stained for days

The way my teeth hide the seeds

I’m totally amazed!

Oh raspberry you’re beautiful

Red nectar of the season

I think you know…

You give life a reason!

Thank you for sharing with me this happy moment.

Happy Simplicity

Hello God!

Thank You for Your patient waiting for me. Last week I spent in the peaceful place where I invite you for a walking. The place is magic and enigmatic. It is hard to find the place even on the maps and I almost sure you have not any chance to see it anywhere else. So take this unique possibility!

photo

“The miracle of life is concluded in patience and simplicity” I thought when I was walking on this street in the small belorussian town where my mother-in-law lives.

Life is simple here. The houses are wood and small. Usually two rooms and a kitchen with a big wood-burning stove are in a typical village’s house.

photo-3

There are no rooms for depressions here. The inhabitants even have never heard about psychiatrist and psychoanalysis. Scientists have confirmed rural life is better for happy life. Researchers have shown that the parts of the brain dealing with stress and emotion are affected by living in the big city.

Watching the spectacular sunset and feeling the warm air flowing in hairs are the best cure for our urban brain.

photo-1

“Simplicity, patience, compassion. These three are your greatest treasures. Simple in actions and thoughts, you return to the source of being. Patient with both friends and enemies, you accord with the way things are. Compassionate toward yourself, you reconcile all beings in the world”. Lao Tzu’s words is the fundamental truth we often forget. I will remember.

photo-2

Simplicity implies beauty, purity and clarity here. A vigorous rooster’s cry is a natural alarm clock, the first golden rays of the sun on a pillow are tickling my eyes saying “Good Morning” and a tantalizing scent of a homemade pie languishing in the oven promises a really good day.

And in the evening when the sky is flourished with star myriads gentle wind tells his delightful breezy story about true happiness …

photo-4

Happiness is simple. Sometimes everything we do to find it is complicated.

I am grateful for your smile now and these flowers I have gathered are for you. Thank you for your happiness now.
