Summer in Game

Hello God!
Thank You for Summer. Despite most of my Summertime I spent in my heavy caterpillar form on the beach I was lucky to find and read fantastic book “The Game” by Terry Schott.

According to the book life on Earth is not real. It is a very real virtual reality simulation created to replace the government school system on the planet Tygon. You, me and every person and thing in the cosmos are actually characters in giant supercomputer game.

In line of our calendar, today is the last day of Summer. But we all have enormous power to choose and enjoy Summer in every moment as we wish, because we live in holographic simulation. Even Elon Musk supports the idea about our life as video game with great graphics. I love Summer on the paintings by Helena Salnikova and I invite you to play with me in our big sandbox.

In the sandbox

Whirlpool of my imagination are mixing quotations from the  “The Game” with snowman’s fantasies about summer from “Frozen”.

“This game we play is full of contrasts. It has to be. Being warm is much better if you have known what it is to be cold. The light is a welcome break from being surrounded by darkness. Earth is contrast. Nothing is bad nor good; things are just on one end of the spectrum or the other. Some periods in a person’s life are full of confusion, peril, and pain”, explains Terry Schott.

Bee’s they buzz, kids’ll blow dandelion fuzz
And I’ll be doing whatever snow does in summer.
A drink in my hand, my snow up against the burning sand
Prob’ly getting gorgeously tanned in summer. – Snowman sings.

Playing with friend

“Other periods are filled with times of clarity, safety and pleasure. I advise you to slow down and enjoy yourself when things are good. It can go on for years, but don’t waste one precious moment of the good times. Because the bad times come, and if you haven’t built up your reserves during the good times, you may not make it through the bad and into the next session of good”.

I’ll finally see a summer breeze, blow away a winter storm.
And find out what happens to solid water when it gets warm!
And I can’t wait to see, what my buddies all think of me.
Just imagine how much cooler I’ll be in summer.

Eat vitamins

“Each day in each person’s life is filled with some good, some bad, and lots of filler. I think the secret to a happy life is to focus on the good, forget the bad, and move calmly through the filler without getting too bored.”

The hot and the cold are both so intense,
Put ’em together it just makes sense!

Bike

“When you find yourself travelling through the filler, search earnestly for the happy moments.Realize that it is in the filler moments where both the happy and the bad float around, waiting to be noticed by whoever chooses to focus on them.”

Winter’s a good time to stay in and cuddle,
But put me in summer and I’ll be a – happy snowman!

Happy Summer

“When you encounter the happy, live in that moment for as long as you can. Smile and tuck it away in your memory to be looked at whenever needed.

When you encounter the bad, don’t live in the moment. Let it pass as quickly as it can, don’t focus on it, and whatever you do, don’t grab onto it and tuck it away in your memory.”

When life gets rough, I like to hold on to my dream,
Of relaxing in the summer sun, just lettin’ off steam.

Summer JOy

“If that advice is too complicated to follow… just smile and laugh as much as you possibly can.”

Oh the sky will be blue, and you guys will be there too
When I finally do what frozen things do in summer!

Thank you for your smile, thank you for our game!

Happy day and Happy Summer in Game!

Onegin Day

Hello God!

Thank You for Alexander Pushkin! Today, the 6th of June, is his Birthday! To celebrate the day I invite you to open and read the book. The poem “Eugene Onegin” is in the book.

Eugenu Onegin.jpg

Russian painter Elena Samokish-Sudkovskaya illustrated the poem published in 19o8 in Saint Petersburg. It is my pleasure to share with you these wonderful pictures. Romantic mood and delicate character of the poetry embrace us. We are floating in the flows of this Masterpiece.

Onegin.jpg

I am catching the waves of “Eugene Onegin” translation by Charles H. Johnston via my own senses. I hope you will enjoy its, you can catch your own Pushkin here.

“How early on he (Onegin) learnt to trouble
the heart of the professional flirt!
When out to burst a rival’s bubble,
how well he knew the way to hurt —
what traps he’d set him, with what malice
he’d pop the poison in his chalice!”

Tatyana.jpg

So she was called Tatyana.

From early on she loved romances,
they were her only food… and so
she fell in love with all the fancies
of Richardson and of Rousseau. The visit.jpgTatyana now need wait no longer.
Her eyes were opened, and she said
“this is the one!” Ah, ever stronger,
in sultry sleep, in lonely bed,
all day, all night, his presence fills her,
by magic everything instils her
with thoughts of him in ceaseless round.

Tatiana's Letter.jpg

“I write to you – no more confession
is needed, nothing’s left to tell.
I know it’s now in your discretion
with scorn to make my world a hell.

Decreed in highest court for ever…
heaven’s will — for you I’m set apart;
and my whole life has been directed
and pledged to you, and firmly planned:
I know, Godsent one, I’m protected
until the grave by your strong hand:
you’d made appearance in my dreaming;
unseen, already you were dear,
my soul had heard your voice ring clear,
stirred at your gaze, so strange, so gleaming,
long, long ago… no, that could be
no dream. You’d scarce arrived, I reckoned
to know you, swooned, and in a second
all in a blaze, I said: it’s he!”Tatiana's husband.jpg

“Can you say,
prince, who in that dark-red béret,
just there, is talking to the Spanish
ambassador?” In some surprise
the prince looks at him, and replies:
“Wait, I’ll present you – but you banish
yourself too long from social life.”
“But tell me who she is.” “My wife.”

Eugene_Onegin.jpg

Onegin wrote “…I noticed once, at our chance meeting,
in you a tender pulse was beating,
yet dared not trust what I could see.
I gave no rein to sweet affection:
what held me was my predilection,
my tedious taste for feeling free.

No, every minute of my days,
to see you, faithfully to follow,
watch for your smile, and catch your gaze
with eyes of love, with greed to swallow
your words, and in my soul to explore
your matchlessness, to seek to capture
its image, then to swoon before
your feet, to pale and waste… what rapture!”

No answer comes. Another letter
he sends, a second, then a third.

Tatyana answered “I married. I beseech you, go;
I know your heart: it has a feeling
for honour, a straightforward pride.
I love you (what’s the use to hide
behind deceit or double-dealing?)
but I’ve become another’s wife —
and I’ll be true to him, for life.”

Thank you for joy reading “Eugene Onegin” with me. Onegin Day is wonderful.

Très Chic May

Hello God!

Thank You for May! The inebriating scent of a bunch of lily of the valley in my hands is taking my head away to somewhere where I am in Dior dress with Van Cleef and Arpels jewellery. Vogue‘s model I am now!

holding lily of the valley

May is beautiful, May is très chic!

Chic is a French word, “Très Chic” literally means”very stylish”.  French style is to embody elegance and minimalism – Less is more. As Leonard de Vinci said – “Simplicity is supreme sophistication”.

For me elegant Lily of the Valley is reflection of the supreme sophistication.Le Miguet

The scientific name for Lily of the Valley is, “Majalis” or “Mails” which means “belonging to May”. The flower also has many formal names like May Lily, May bells, Ladder-to-heaven and Male Lily. It is called “Muguet” in French.

The delicate green sprigs in emeralds capped with tiny white brilliant bells this brooch by Van Cleef and Arpels is, mmmm let me find the words, très chic!May Dior.jpg

Lily of the valley was Cristian Dior’s lucky flower. “Superstitious and attentive, he slipped a sprig of the delicate dried flower into the hem of every one of his haute couture models, and always kept it with him. In his jacket pocket he kept a finely crafted reliquary containing his beloved flower” – I am reading in the story of Dior.

This dress “Muguet” (Lily of the Valley) is from haute couture Spring-Summer 1957.

Robe lily of the valley.jpg

Christian Dior knew how to express delicacy and femaleness in his dresses. French très chic looks effortlessly but with sense of intrigue. Woman is in beautiful dress Lily of Valley, what else can be soooo French!

van-cleef-arpels muguet.jpg

Lily of the Valley brings luck and signifies the return of happiness.

Tender fairy with charm – butterfly  on this watch by Van Cleef and Arpels,  you see it is without figures, promises to us very happy and très chic May.

“Happiness is the secret to all beauty. There is no beauty without happiness,” said Christian Dior.  Dior dress with Van Cleef and Arpels jewellery is just a dream I was blessed by a simple flower, lily of the valley.

I am happy to feel your smiling eyes, I am happy to share this moment with you. We are beautiful, endlessly beautiful.

The Shortest Day

Hello God!

Thank You for tonight. We are celebrating the longest night of the year when the Goddess once again becomes the Great Mother and gives birth to the new Sun King.

“The winter solstice celebrates the return of hope to our land as our planet experiences the first slow turn toward greater daylight”, I am reading in “The Circle of Life” by Joyce Rupp and Macrina Wiederkehr, “…winter darkness has a positive side. As we gather to celebrate the first turn from winter to spring, we are invited to recognize and honor the beauty in the often unwanted season of winter.”

Let’s embrace winter’s darkness tonight. I have gathered “dark” photos to emphasise how beautiful winter is, and how much we are happy to live in this magical moment!

Winter Solstice

So the shortest day came, and the year died,
And everywhere down the centuries of the snow-white world
Came people singing, dancing,
To drive the dark away.

Snow

They lighted candles in the winter trees;
They hung their homes with evergreen;
They burned beseeching fires all night long
To keep the year alive,

Snow Love
And when the new year’s sunshine blazed awake
They shouted, reveling.
Through all the frosty ages you can hear them
Echoing behind us – Listen!

bg-friends

All the long echoes sing the same delight,
This shortest day,
As promise wakens in the sleeping land:
They carol, fest, give thanks,
And dearly love their friends!

Snow Kiss

And hope for peace.
And so do we, here, now,
This year and every year.

by  Susan Cooper

Make a Wish!

Make a wish to live in Light, as light as a child’s breath,

As light as a snowflakes dance in your eyes…

Thank you for your winter smile.

Aurora Waltz

Hello God!

Thank You for December. Aurora is inviting us to dance the snow waltz in the Сalendar Ball. Photographer Mo Devlin is our reporter tonight. He shoots our breathing in the dance with Aurora.

Northern lights – blues and greens, the ocean of rainbows is in the sky. This is beautiful Aurora.

“The bright dancing lights of the aurora are actually collisions between electrically charged particles from the sun that enter the earth’s atmosphere. The lights are seen above the magnetic poles of the northern and southern hemispheres. They are known as “Aurora borealis” in the north and “Aurora australis” in the south” I am reading in the National Geographic. Aurora keeps the Earth in her both hands and we are all in her hugging lights.

The draperies of innumerable spectral colours decorate the Ball we are waltzing with Aurora feeling her winter breath…

Lilia

“Dance with me”, says Aurora, “and I’ll teach you to live radiantly dancing in this very Moment. Yes, learn to live joyfully even the moment is winter and cold”.

We are in the snow waltz – breath, breath, breath.

Winter Sun

“Breath with me”, says Aurora, “and I’ll show you the Flower of Life. You are this Flower of Life, please, blossom, even in the ice”.

We are in the snow waltz – breath, breath, breath.

Violet Dream

“Move with me”, says Aurora, “and I’ll invite your soul to dance. Your soul is dancing in the wonder with an abundance of lights”.

We are in the snow waltz – breath, breath, breath.

Orchid love

“Follow me”, says Aurora, “and I’ll open you the Milky Way spilled across the night. There are always stars in the sky even you can not see its in your darkest night”.

We are in the snow waltz – breath, breath, breath.Iris

“Love me”, says Aurora, “and I’ll send the waves of love cascading down to heal all wounds of the world”.

We are in the snow waltz – breath, breath, breath.

Roses

“Believe me”, says Aurora, “and I’ll hug your whole essence with the beauty of My light!”

We are in the snow waltz – breath, breath, breath.

Thank You very much for waltzing with me. I am happy to breath with you in the unison.

Have a beautiful Monday! And remember to breath with Aurora in the snow waltz.

Good Bad Teacher

Hello God!

Thank You for my teacher of the piano. My dearest friend Linda has announced the Time Machine Challenge and I can not miss the flight. So let me activate the machine teleport section and invite you to my journey!

George Goodwin Kilburne - Piano Practice

The Port 1980. I am a young girl as you see on the painting by George Goodwin Kilburn “Piano Practice”. The piano is Miracle for me. I am touching its keys with trembling little fingers and sounds are wonderful. Oh, the piano sounds are my wings, I am flying.

Angry music conductor’s voice I am hearing in my ears  – “Do not touch the piano. It is forbidden in the kinder garden”. But my dream has just born. It is just in the right time. My dream is to play the piano all my life. With hopeful heart I am looking forward the time when I will study in the musical school.

The Port 1984. I am in the musical school. It was not difficult to attend. After elementary intonation and rhythm tests I am here. You see below the painting “The first piano lesson” by Jules-Alexis Mueller.

The First Piano Lesson

This is my second piano lesson. I do not want to play the piano anymore. My dreams about happy sounds gone with my teacher’s loud words: “You are lazy and stupid”.  I feel this heavy space in the class after my diagnosis. There are no rooms for colourful notes and dancing treble clef. Black and white keys, black and white notes in a music sheets are in my tears.

My teacher of the piano is old. Actually he is 58 y.o. but when you are 6 y.o. – 58 y.o. is almost ancient age. Soviet Moscow Conservatory gifted me my teacher. (In the portal 1984 I simply do not know that he is my gift.) He is devoted Communist. Oh, I am really lucky that the Communist Party had approved almost all classic composers. I play Bach’s Well Tempered Clavier, Beethoven’s marches and Mozart’s sonatas.

The question is how I am learned to play the piano. The teaching methods are cruel, repressive and harmful. In the teacher’s opinion I am infected with the seeds of laziness and I have no horizons to archive. “You will never become a pianist. My aim is to toughen you for later life and to instrumentalize your senses in favor of Communism builder’s functions” my teacher said.

So, I am going to be Communism builder. Daily 3 practicing hours of scales and accords help me – my teacher is sure. I hate my teacher of the piano. I hate his “black pedagogy”.

“Aaaaaaa, I can not hold it! Stop-stop it immediately. You are mediocracy! Your playing is horror for me. Beethoven was the favourite Lenin’s composer. And you are asking me about pink and romantic Schumann. No, no and no!” – the mentor chooses the repertoire for me.

Leighton Edmund Blair The Piano Lesson

The Port 1989. The painter Leighton Edmund Blair in his “The Piano Lesson” expresses my teacher’s  shock. The last year before the college has just begun and I announced that I am going to the pianistic department. I am playing Serious Variations by Mendelssohn I have learned in summer by myself.

I must study in the musical college, the pianistic department, I decide.

“Ha-ha-ha, girl, what allows you to think you are suitable for this department? Do you know that even if you will start to practice at 5.30 every morning, you are not going to be accepted, because you are untalented. Just agree and accept this fact!” – I try to keep my tears inside my eyes. I am strong and hard as stone.

“Black pedagogy” is an approach that is directed toward breaking the will of a child, in order to make it an obedient subject, with the aid of open or concealed use of force, manipulation, and repression.” My teacher is the virtuoso in this field.

This year is tough. My mother has got married the second time. At 5.30 at mornings I have a possibility just to sit and see the keys of the piano not touching its, due to my stepfather, Afghanistan survivor with damaged brain, hates the sounds. By the way he is the second motivator to leave my family.

My teethes are clenched, my tears are drained. I feel and I respect my own will.

“Listen, pupil, if you will be accepted to the college I install your golden bust near the entrance to this school by my own hands” – my teacher “promises” me the award. “Oh, poor great composers, they are whirling up and down in their coffins endlessly when you play” – my teacher “supports” me.

The new story

The Port 1990. I am trembling near the door. I will play the entrance program when it opens. I am playing etude, prelude and fuga, sonata and piece. Everything goes very well. Good technique, smooth sound, relevant penalisation are demonstrated. I know it.

I am accepted to the pianistic department in the musical college!!! The new beautiful exiting life opens its door for me.

I have never seen my good bad teacher after the entrance exam. I have no strength to meet him again…

2015. We are here now. My conclusions about this time journey are optimistic. Communist Party means nothing in this story – in every society mediocre man has a defined social role. “Black Pedagogy” may be effective but risky. To repress the will of a child is possible when you see something bigger than your “repression” in this soul. My teacher saw it. He knew he was hated by my heart and bones. He paid this heavy price for my future.

Through years of flying on the wings of the sounds of the piano I understand that my excellent and brilliant teacher of the piano is the gift from the Sky. I am endlessly grateful for the cross of our destinies.

By the way no one from my own pupils has become a musician. My methods are too soft and my knowledge is based on humanitarian approach. So who is good? My teacher of the piano is.

The film “Whiplash” is about him. I recommend to watch it.

Thank you for this possibility to share my journey. We all must grow and mostly the way is hard and painful.

The next portal in Linda’s Time Machine is the story from Scottish Island Mum. We are here to keep our hands together and tightly. Please, take my hand.

Lilac Legends

Hello God!

Thank You for the huge vase of lavender and deep purple lilacs standing on the table near my computer where I am writing to you. I have chosen these spring paintings by Ekaterina Grebenkina to visualize the vase.

With the lilac’s dazzling scent and tender touching of tiny flowers on my face Lilac legends are for today…

Lilacs

The English common name “lilac” is from the French lilac. The Latin word for lilac is syringa. The genus name Syringa is derived from Greek “syrinx”, meaning a hollow tube or pipe.

According to Greek mythology Syrinx was a Naiad Nymph of the River Ladon in Arkadia in southern Greece.

Pan and Syrix

Sad love story we see on this painting “Pan et Syrix” by French painter Edmund Dulac.

As told by the Roman poet Ovid in the Metamorphoses, the lusty satyr Pan eagerly pursued the wood nymph Syrinx. Guarding her virtue, she ran until she reached a river and desperately begged her sisters of the stream to transform her. Just as Pan was about to embrace her, Syrinx changed into a lilac, also called a reed-tree or pipe-tree.

When Pan discovered that he was holding nothing but a tiny lilac flowers, he sighed in disappointment, causing the wind to blow through its. He was enchanted by the sound, believing it to be the mournful cry of his beloved Syrinx. He fashioned a set of pipes so that he could have her with him always…

Vase with Lilacs

Another legend tells how the lilac flowers came into being when Spring drove away snow from the fields and raised the sun higher –  a rainbow appeared. Spring then gathered sunbeams and rainbow colors and scattered them to Earth. Where white and violet colors fell, small fragrant pale lavender flower bushes appeared. In other places where white colors fell, there were white lilac bushes.

Lilac brings enchantment and faithfulness to us. Let’s enjoy lilac blooming and legends with romantic Rahmanihoff!

Thank You very much for sharing with me this fantastic lilac experience and knowledge. This very moment when I am feeling your beautiful and smiling eyes is inspiring and promising. We are blooming together as lilac bushes.

Vera Stracciatella!

Hello God!

Thank You for my cone of stracciatella I am licking now! As for me and it has deep roots from my childhood true Spring begins from a cone of ice-cream without a threat of laryngitis.

Vanilla ice cream with small, delicious shreds of dark chocolate – mmmm, it is mouthwatering. With this epitome of perfect taste I am happy to invite you in Bergamo, Northern Italy, where the door to the single place where you can try original taste of Stracciatella Gelato opens!

Stracciatella

Gelato is the Italian word for ice cream, derived from the Latin word “gelātus” (meaning frozen). What differentiates gelato from ice cream is its dense, yet super creamy texture. This is mainly the result of two things: gelato is churned so that very little air is incorporated, so it’s less fluffy than ice cream; two, gelato at the gelaterias is stored at a higher temperature than most ice cream, so even though its dense it doesn’t freeze solid – like many ice creams left too long in the freezer.

La Marianna

The story of Stracciatella Gelato begins here on Largo Colle aperto 2/4, Bergamo, in cafe “La Marianna”. Please, come in and seat at the table you like.

“La Marianna” is a strong family-run business, and in Italy it means that father has unlimited power to involve his children to help than to live by the business. Enrico Panattoni, the youngest son, was responsible for stirring eggs in the soup-like dish called “Stracciatella”. “Stracciare” means “to shred” or “to tear up” in Italian and, indeed, that is how the soup looks after stirring some beaten eggs with some cheese in a good chicken broth.

Gelateria

The soup was the main dish in the menu of “La Marianna” in 60’s. The cafe was mecca for “Stracciatella” soup. But Enrico Panattoni was sad – every customer wanted to eat only the soup.

“It seems I have to stir eggs for the end of my life” he thinks even not asking a new client what he or she would like to order. Enrico was sure all clients want to eat this damn soup!

Ice Cream House

It happened in April in 1961. A girl had changed everything! This girl in a silk vanilla color blouse and dark chocolate-brown skirt in soft cream suede ballerina shoes opened “La Marianna”s door and Miracle had smiled to Enrico! He floated in her eyes and he knew she would not order the soup. She would order something different. “I would like, mmm, I want, I will, ge-la-to. Yeas, I would like a cone of gelato” the girl made her choice.

“Tuk, tuk, tuk – I hear every beat of my heart” Enrico happily noticed. “My dream, my old dream is on the way to its realization. Today I am going to present my creation. This girl will try my Stracciatella Gelato!”

Spring Cream

After various and repeated experiments in tight secret from father, Enrico Panattoni created a particular gelato. His method of “drizzling in” melted chocolate creates the characteristic shreds – when melted chocolate hits the cold vanilla ice cream base it immediately hardens and breaks into small, brittle shreds – which are dispersed throughout the ice cream during the churning. The melted chocolate just remember the egg congeals into the boiling broth of the soup “Stracciatella”.

“You have to give a name to this delight and then … why not call it as one of the most popular dish of the restaurant “La Marianna”, “Stracciatella”?” happy Enrico had just prepared the cone of his creation to the girl.

Happy Cream

The girl was beautiful. April tender breeze was playing in her hairs and her lips had touched the cone of gelato – Enrico’s creation! Do you know what happened with the girl and Enrico? For romantic Italian boy the lips which tried his creation at the first time became the single lips he kissed every day in their happy marriage.

Enrico Panattoni held tightly the original recipe, which is still a family secret – no patent, no copyright, people arrive to “La Marianna” to try “Vera Stracciatella”!

Stracciatella Gelato prepared according to the original recipe here. That Stracciatella which is still produced with vertical machines (the famous Carpigiani L40 with tinned copper bell and wet brine) with simple ingredients such as fresh milk, egg yolks, sugar, cream, gelatin and alginate sodium as a stabilizer. Chocolate coverage today is the Lindt dark chocolate with 58% cocoa.

I strongly recommend to buy a cone of Stracciatella Gelato in the nearest gelateria. You will understand what I am telling here about. Thank You for your pleasure!

Happy gelato weekend!

Universe of Somewhere

Hello God!

Thank You for Hope about different world. We know nothing about this world but it exists – we hope. Terry Pratchett went to unknown Universe just a couple hours ago. He died “with his cat sleeping on his bed, surrounded by his family” – I am reading in TheGuardian with a deep sadness in my heart.

Why we are sad if we know and have hope about existence of the Universe of Somewhere?

Terry

I have stumbled upon on the fascinating divine synchronisation when I thought about Terry and his influence on my life I have found these paintings by Victor Nizovtsev.

Here I recognise Terry and the Universe of Somewhere he is in now.

Dream in Somewhere

I have heard of a place called Somewhere

But did not knew where it can be…

Divine white Swan delivered you in perfect time,

No doubts. You know it now.

Moon

The Moon had lived in your old portmanteau

Before you were delivered here.

You change the Sky with your stairway.

The Moon happily sparkles in Somewhere.

Sweet Cupcakes

Sweet cupcakes dusted with sugar of your dreams

Are shining in every reading eyes,

Our fantasy world you realised and for you

Somewhere is not a Surprise!

Stars in here

Harvest of Stars you joyfully collect

In a bag as big as your heart

With angelic help, you remember,

You always wrote about Somewhere.

Sweet onion

We are crying, of course, on the Earth,

We are chopping onion here.

Your books stay with us and we are happy –

We know something about Somewhere!

Good Bye, Terry Pratchett! Have a happy and adventurous trip in the Universe of Somewhere!

Spring in all its splendour rises,
ah, all hardship is over,
sorrow becomes milder,
