Bird Flies

Hello God!

Thank You for this possibility to make each other better. My daughter asked me about a birds in a cages we have seen in the zoo: “Why are these birds in the cages? In my fairy tales birds live in a magic forest.” I explained that the zoo is a kind of hospital for a sick birds. Its will live in a forest when a doctor allows. 5 y.o. is a good age for this story, daughter is satisfied by my answer.

“God loved the birds and invented trees. Man loved the birds and invented cages.” Jacques Deval sarcastically said. The words mirror human approach to nature, but in our will to help each other to become better, kinder and in the end make a little creature free. I mean “little creature” in the wide sense. We all have something or somebody to free.

CagedBird

I love poems by Alexander Pushkin. The special one for today is “The Little Bird”.

Here in a foreign land
I perform an ancient rite:
I free a bird from my hand
in Spring’s cascading light.

Cage

The act consoles my heart,
how can I grudge God’s will;
if I can grant, to some small part
of Creation, freedom, still?

Thank you for your help to make me better. Happy Friday!

Mind’s Eye

Hello God!

Thank You for our mind’s eyes. According to wikipedia: “The phrase “mind’s eye” refers to the human ability for visualization, for the experiencing of visual mental imagery; in other words, one’s ability to “see” things with the mind.”

I have met two variations of the phrase: “the eye of the mind” and “the mind’s eye”.

The phrase “the eye of the mind” comes from Plato. Philosophy is the path to enlightenment, to see by the light of the Sun in the real world outside of the cave of illusion which ignorance is. The intellect shows the true reality. This is reality as seen through the eye of the mind.

MindEye

“The mind’s eye” probably became known through the work of Shakespeare. He uses it in the best-known of all plays – Hamlet, 1602, in a scene where Hamlet is recalling his father:

HORATIO:
Where, my lord?

HAMLET:
In my mind’s eye, Horatio.

Mind'sEye

The Mind’s Eye is powerful. The Mind’s Eye actually creates the world.  Since “the world” for Hegel means “knowledge of the world” through the mind, then as mind develops, knowledge changes and the world changes in accordance. Mind is what makes human beings human. Further, the categories of thought are universal in being the same for all human minds. The world is the creation, the product, of these universal categories of thought. All forms of activity are the embodiments of the ideas of each activity.

We think, therefore we are. How and what we think determines who we are and how we live. French philosopher Henri Bergson has a famous quote: “The eye sees only what the mind is prepared to comprehend.” Me have to clear the lenses our mind’s eyes see through by a new happy knowledge and vision of the dream we desire to embody every moment of life.

For Aristotle, the purpose of life is not just to live but to live well, to flourish. Since this is so, it makes sense to think well. To live well, it is necessary to think well. As we think, so shall we live.

Fall’s air and sounds of falling gold leaves create a mood to think, dream and visualize. Thank you for your mind’s eye we create our reality by.

King Sings

Hello God!

Thank You for the 29th of August. Today is Great, today is the Birthday of Michael Jackson!

He is special for me. I remember his first concert in Moscow in 1993. Who says that USSR is totalitarian if Michael Jackson is walking there?

MichaelJacksonin Moscow

Oh, more than that he is marching and conducting the orchestra of the Soviet Union Army in the uniform!

He is missing the press conference devoted to his visit and goes to Moscow’s orphanage with presents for children.

King is singing. He has a lot of faces. I do hope that my face is his too because I believe I can make a change. Kadir Nelson‘s painting can help find your own face.

Happy Birthday, Margarita!

Hello God!

Thank You for my daughter. Today she is 5 y.o.!

Daughter

You are beautiful,
my tiny child,
wrapped tightly in my arms,
close to my heart.
I listen to you breathing.
I count your fingers
and your toes.
Helpless,
you cried out to me
and I love you
with every ounce of my soul.

Margarita

I remember the day
You took your first step.
There was no stopping you.
Your feet gave you freedom
to explore the world
like never before
but danger lurked.

I opened those doors anyway,
cautiously,
and introduced
you to the world.

MargaritaWorld

Thank you, Margarita, for You!

You have transformed my life into a fairytale,

My world has changed, and will never be the same.
Because my child, you are an angel from heaven to me,
You, my darling, are my most unforgettable dream.
Happy Birthday, Dear Daughter!

Thank you for this possibility to share with you my happiness and love.

“Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.” Great Coco knows exactly what she says about.

Her secret, I think, is in French easiness of perception and accepting everything life suggests. Lets follow by her lightness she is radiating around!

Angel Samantha

Hello God!

Thank You for today. I am happy to share with you a story about my first American friend. Remembering my Soviet school years is impossible about this story.

As you know my school years (1981 – 1991) were the years of the Cold war between USA and USSR.

If we wish to create a lasting peace, if we want to fight a war against war, we must begin with the children. Mahatma Gandhi’s words mirrors the ambivalent situation Soviet children were in. From the one side we knew about USA as the worst enemy, from the other side we all had had an American friend we adored by whole heart. We loved Samantha Smith.

Time

When Yuri Andropov succeeded Leonid Brezhnev as leader of the Soviet Union in November 1982, the mainstream Western newspapers and magazines ran numerous front-page photographs and negative articles about him. When Samantha Smith viewed the edition of Time magazine, she asked her mother, “If people are so afraid of him, why doesn’t someone write a letter asking whether he wants to have a war or not?”. Her mother replied, “Why don’t you?”

Dear Mr. Andropov,
My name is Samantha Smith. I am ten years old. Congratulations on your new job. I have been worrying about Russia and the United States getting into a nuclear war. Are you going to vote to have a war or not? If you aren’t please tell me how you are going to help to not have a war. This question you do not have to answer, but I would like to know why you want to conquer the world or at least our country. God made the world for us to live together in peace and not to fight.
Sincerely,
Samantha Smith

mynameis

On July 7, 1983, she flew to Moscow with her parents, and spent two weeks as Andropov’s guest. From today’s my point of view I think her visit were unimaginably influential for every Soviet child because she was from a different planet. You see on the cartoon that it seems the Soviet Union was even from different biological spice.

Samantha Smith Arrives In Russia

She is Angel. She had changed our Destiny forever. Because of her the doubts were born. “Why are USA our worst enemy? Samantha in from USA and she is a friend” we were thinking learning English intensively. “Why intensively?” you can ask. The Soviet Ministry of Education created a special linguistic school where foreign language was compulsory from the first grade (6-7 y.o.) after Samantha’s visit.

We were grateful for her gift to open our eyes. America was not our enemy.

USSRstampS.Smith

She died on August 25, 1985. Could you imagine the mourning day devoted to Samantha at the 1st September, 1985, in every Soviet school, in the official Knowledge Day?! We were crying and writing a letter of condolence to Samantha’s mother by whole class. I remember that moment, even now I am writing with tears in my eyes.

In 1985 the Soviet Post  issued a commemorative stamp with her likeness. In 1986, when Soviet astronomer Lyudmila Chernykh discovered asteroid 3147, she named it 3147 Samantha. It was the precedent.

The wind of Her angel’s wings has begun creating a new melody of our ways… We all are connected, the butterfly effect works.

Thank you for your being in my life. We are influencing on each other and from this very point we are going to be happier and kinder than we were a moment ago. I am grateful for you change my Way.

Daughter Grows

Hello God!

Thank You for this possibility to breath and enjoy Sunday. Today is a rainy day and I have a happy time to write these words. My daughter is sitting on my knees playing in a fashion game with iPad now. She asks my advices what dress to wear and I feel her trust. I enjoy and love our understanding.

I am meditating about our future now. Will we still be a good friends when my daughter is a teenager? I have found a wonderful story I am happy to share with you. Sure you recognize today’s personages on the photos.

In the second grade,

My mom made me wear dresses everyday.
My mom would part my hair down the middle and make two long braids with colorful hair ties.
I would go to school and the boys would make fun of my dresses.
The boy that sat behind me would pull my braids anytime I said something smart.

Lourdes2Lourdes

In the fourth grade,

I told my mom I could dress myself, but she still had to approve of every outfit.
I told my mom I was old enough to style my own hair.
I would go to school and the boys would make fun of my weight instead of my clothes.
The boy that sat behind me would sit next to me and call me names for being the stupid one in smart classes.

In the seventh grade,

I told my mom that I didn’t care what she thought.
I cut my long hair shoulder length.
I started wearing dark makeup.
The boys didn’t make fun of my weight but they would ask me out as a joke.
The boy that sat behind me and then next to me, liked me and texted me every night saying how pretty I was.

Lourdest

In the ninth grade,

My mom wasn’t awake to see what I wore to school.
I regretted the very day I decided to cut my hair.
The boys that called me fat; left me alone because they found someone bigger to pick on.
The boy that sat behind me asked me for a naked picture and I said no.
He called me a fat, ugly, prude and never talked to me again.

Lourdes

In the tenth grade,

My mom borrowed my clothes and I borrowed hers.
My hair fell out but I wanted it to grow.
Boys no longer call me fat because they never saw me eat.
And the boy that sat behind me wanted me back.
I cried myself to sleep and hid my wrists in my sleeve.

It’s funny how many things changed since the second grade…

My Dolls

Hello God!

Thank You for a friendship we are inspired by. My today’s post was born because of my new friend Sindy. Her blog is fascinating. She asked me whether my Soviet childhood was different from her American one. My childhood was sweet, I even create a poem inspiring by my happy memories. To feel the differences it will be nice to hear your opinion.

I suppose all children with loving father and mother are happy on the both side of our planet. Childhood is the pink period when American democracy or Soviet totalitarianism mean nothing. My Soviet childhood is from 80s. The Soviet Union was blooming in building Communism and my parents were a happy helpers working at the factory. My education was partly a responsibility of the Soviet Union. Kindergarden was for children from 1 y.o. Mother should go to work. All Soviet people should work, as you know, unemployment was solved by the law of Communist Party.

The future builders of Communism should be a harmoniously developed person. By the way I like this idea. Every child studied and learned to play a musical instruments and sports for free. Every child knew the ballet “Swan Lake” by Peter Tchaikovsky and the 2nd Concerto for the piano with orchestra by Sergey Rachmaninov. This classic pieces were main in the TV program when funeral of General Secretary of the Communist Party was in the day. I remember the funerals of Leonid Brezhnev, Yuri Andropov and Konstantin Chernenko. It was funny but child’s playing with a toys with a sounds of a classical masterpiece solved important educational task how to teach to love classical music.

You see a photos of a dolls from USSR soviet children played with. We did not know who Barbie was at all.

We were happy because we knew nothing about Afghanistan, the Cold War, Berlin Wall. We will know the sad truth later…

Dior Child

Hello God!

Thank You for the 1st of August. Today is the Birthday of ingenious fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent.

In the early 1950s, a young Yves Saint Laurent arrived in Paris, armed with an array of fashion sketches. Within a year, the 18-year-old student of haute couture was snapped up by Christian Dior and hired as his studio assistant.

YSLDior

When in 1957, Christian Dior passed away unexpectedly, Saint Laurent became Dior’s head designer. His first independent collection, the «Trapèze» collection, presented in January 1958, was an immense success. The shy young man in glasses and a clean-cut looking suit was only 22.

Trapese

After Yves Saint Laurent’s “Trapese” collection was shown the press declared that “Saint Laurent has saved French fashion” and “the great Dior tradition will continue.”

Trapese1

It included one of Saint Laurent’s first and most famous innovations – the trapeze dress.

Trapese2

Saint Laurent’s “Trapeze” was permeated by a mischievous spirit of youth. His dresses were known for their sharp lines and unusual proportions and length.

Trapese3

“Will this young man be able to uphold Dior’s traditions of high couture?” the press wondered before the showing.

Trapese4

But all doubts vanished. Dior child with his own long and beautiful way was born under the bright Star!

Happy Birthday dear Yves Saint Laurent! Thank you for Your Gift dedicated to Woman: “It pains me physically to see a woman victimized, rendered pathetic, by fashion… What is important in a dress is the woman who is wearing it.”

I am happy to celebrate  Yves Saint Laurent’s Birthday with you. Thank you for your happiness to live.

Eppur si muove!

Hello God!

Thank You for a love stories because of its Eppur si muove! saying by Galileo Galilie’s words “Yet It Moves!”

“Love Story”: in this two simple words the whole history of humanity is concluded. We all are a creations of love stories and we are creating our own lifelong love story.

Today I am lucky to touch a wonderful love story of Marina Abramović and Uwe Laysiepen. They are both a performance artists. Their love story began from their collaboration. “They decided to form a collective being called “the other”, and spoke of themselves as parts of a “two-headed body”. They dressed and behaved like twins, and created a relationship of complete trust,” which real Love is I think.

But sometimes life is more complicated than we would like to see. In 1988, after several years of tense relations, Abramović and Ulay decided to make a spiritual journey which would end their relationship. Each of them walked the Great Wall of China, starting from the two opposite ends and meeting in the middle. As Abramović described it: “That walk became a complete personal drama. Ulay started from the Gobi Desert and I from the Yellow Sea. After each of us walked 2500 km, we met in the middle for a big hug and said good-bye“.

At her 2010 MoMa retrospective, Marina performed “The Artist Is Present”.

In the great atrium of the Museum, throughout the public hours while her exhibit is open, Marina sits silently at a table, while museumgoers are invited to sit directly across from her.

Ulay arrived without her knowing…

Ulay and Marina

Now you are going to witness Miracle of Love. You are going to observe Love in whole essence and beauty. You are going to experience full range of emotions Love brings. I am with you.

I understand why Eppur si muove! Our planet moves by energy of Love. We are the reason, we were and we will.

Life is nothing but a dream,

and if we are artists,

then we can create our life with Love,

and our dream becomes a masterpiece of art.

Thank you for this moment of sharing our own masterpiece of art, just Thank You.
