Vogue Star Wars

Hello God!

Thank You for the genius of Jorge Lucas. My heart is beating in gratitude for Jorge Lucas creations when I see how my daughter watches “Star Wars” film by film. Together we look forward to the release Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

I have stumbled upon on the photos by Eisuke Ishiguro shooted for Vogue  in 1977. Ishimuro explained his approach to the shooting “Since “Star Wars” heavily relied on visual effect, we thought the photographs should be simple and direct,” he says. “I lit them to look two-dimensional and almost comic strip–like.”

So please enjoy the Big Blondes with long-haired furs on long-haired girls in fantastic company with C-3PO and Darth Vader.

I remember C-3PO from my childhood. I love him!  “Don’t blame me. I’m an interpreter. I’m not supposed to know a power socket from a computer terminal”.

“Sir, the possibility of successfully navigating an asteroid field is approximately 3,720 to 1.”

Artoo says that the chances of survival are 725 to 1. Actually Artoo has been known to make mistakes… from time to time… Oh dear…

George Lucas did not simply create a fantasy empire. He established a philosophy, one that has shaped our culture for decades. I was grown with “Star Wars” and now I happily nurture my daughter by “Star Wars”.

Let me share my favourite quotes from George Lucas.

“If you want to be successful in a particular field, perseverance is one of the key qualities.”

“You have to find something that you love enough to jump over hurdles and break through the brick walls.”

“A Jedi must have the deepest commitment, the most serious mind…. All his life has he looked away…to the future, to the horizon. Never his mind on where he was. Hmm? What he was doing. Hmph. Adventure. Heh. Excitement. Heh. A Jedi craves not these things. You are reckless.”

“Rejoice for those around you who transform into the Force. Mourn them, do not. Miss them, do not. Attachment leads to jealousy. The shadow of greed, that is. Train yourself to let go of everything you fear to lose.”

“Always remember, your focus determines your reality,” I say to my daughter every morning before the school by George Lucas’s words. Good reminder for all of us.

Thank you for sharing this present moment with me. I am happy in your company. I wish you a very good and inspirational day.

May the Force be with you!

  1. Glorialana, your post was exceptional about a different aspect of Star Wars! The philosophy of the computers (R2D2 and C3PO) and director’s thoughts were fantastic. Sorry I have been not finding you but will try to reconnect. ♡ Blessings to you and your dear daughter, Glorialana.
